Procedure descriptions

Request a new determination of a disability

Under certain circumstances, you can apply to have your disability re-determined.

Responsible department

the pension office at the district office in whose district you have your main residence

Your already established disability has worsened or a new condition has been added to your existing disability.

You must apply for the reassessment of the disability in writing or in person at the pension office responsible for you. You can obtain the form there or on the internet. There you can also download a completion guide and an information sheet.

Tip: Fill out the application as completely and legibly as possible. The district office, the city or municipal administration, the welfare office for war victims or the integration office will help you with the application. If special circumstances (e.g. dismissal) arise after you have submitted your application, you should inform the District Office immediately.

The office will evaluate the medical documents you have submitted and, if necessary, will also take further findings from your attending doctors if you have signed the release from medical confidentiality in the application form.

You will then receive a new assessment notice from the District Office - even if the GdB determined is less than 50. The notice of reassessment contains

  • the individual disabilities,
  • the degree of disability (GdB) and
  • the other health characteristics (characteristic signs).

Required documents

  • comprehensive medical reports with a precise description of the findings and the loss of function or
  • Your general practitioner's examination records, e.g.:
    • Specialist letters
    • Hospital reports
    • Medical reports
    • X-ray findings

Note: Medical certificates containing only the complaints and grievances expressed are not sufficient.

Note: Insofar as you incur costs for the medical certificates and attestations submitted, the authority cannot guarantee reimbursement of the costs.
