Apply for a moped test certificate
You are allowed to ride a moped on public roads if you have a "moped test certificate". You will receive this if you
- have successfully completed theoretical and practical moped training and
- have passed the theoretical moped test.
Note: You must always have the moped test certificate or a driving licence replacing it with you when driving.

Details
Prerequisite
To ride a moped, you must
- be at least 15 years old,
- be at least 16 years old if you are travelling with a child under the age of seven,
- complete a theoretical and practical moped training course,
- pass a theory test and
- obtain a moped test certificate.
Exception: If you are in possession of a valid domestic or foreign driving licence (regardless of category), you do not need a moped test certificate. Anyone who turned 15 before 1 April 1980 does not need a driving licence or moped test certificate to ride a moped.
Procedure
- After completing the theoretical and practical moped training at your driving school, you will receive a training certificate there.
- Present the training certificate to TÜV SÜD Auto Service GmbH. You must take the theoretical moped test there.
- If you pass, you will receive your moped test certificate immediately.
