Dog tax - deregister dog

To avoid paying taxes unnecessarily, you must deregister your dog in certain situations.

Details

Prerequisite

You move to another municipality as your main place of residence or you no longer have a dog.

Procedure

You can deregister your dog in person or in writing.

You can use the "Dog tax deregistration" form to deregister your dog. You can obtain this form from your local authority or you can download it from their website.

Deadlines

You must deregister your dog within one month unless the municipality has set a different deadline.

  • Dog tax stamp

Note: Check with your local authority whether you need to submit further documents, for example a certificate from the vet if the animal has died.

as a rule: none

Note: If you have already paid your dog tax, you may get it back pro rata temporis.
